Planning Board continues home meadery hearing
Planning Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Warren Planning Board continues home meadery hearing, previews housing survey. Members voted 4-0 to continue, until September 14, applicant Jack Fowler's special permit hearing for a home-based mead and wine business at 661 Main Street, after the town's building inspector denied it citing a zoning nuisance bylaw over odor and carbon dioxide. Fowler, a disabled veteran, said "if you are making alcohol, you are using yeast" in describing minimal fermentation odor from two years of small-batch production.
The board also reviewed a draft Housing Production Plan survey with consultant Emily Glopitz of the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, targeting 100 to 200 responses ahead of a planned fall launch. Members approved minutes from July 20 and August 12 and three warrants to Administrative Assistant Laura Sherris totaling $795.08, $692.12 and $749.32.
