Planning Board Redirects Meadery Permit to ZBA
Planning Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Warren Planning Board sends a disabled veteran's meadery permit back to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Town Administrator Jim Ferrara told the board that Town Counsel Jeff Blake and the zoning enforcement officer, identified only as Bill, both determined applicant Jack Fowler's proposed home meadery at 661 Main Street does not conform to the zoning bylaw's odor restrictions. Fowler argued village zoning allows the use by special permit and said "I'm not asking to build treehouse," citing a VA treatment-plan deadline.
The board voted unanimously to continue the hearing to October 26 rather than rule, after members said approving it anyway would put "two entities at each other's neck." Separately, the board continued a 9,800-square-foot contractor's-yard site plan for Babes Lawn Care Inc. to September 28, and a Paquette Brothers Contracting review to October 26. The board also approved $777.92 in administrative-assistant payroll and August 24 meeting minutes.
