Warren board awards $570,690 Main Street pact
Select Board · Meeting of August 6, 2026
Warren board finds bank-building police station option 9 percent pricier than new construction. A draft architect's study pegged renovating the former Cornerstone Bank building at $13,876,343 versus $12,746,645 to build new near the highway barn, a gap of roughly $1.1 million tied partly to the bank building's 12,700 square feet against the department's 8,900-square-foot need. "To me, it doesn't make sense that it's almost the same price as building new," one board member said.
The board also voted 3-0 to award Ludlow Construction Company $570,690.10 for Phase 1 of the River and Central Street project and to renew a $150,000 ambulance note with Greenfield Cooperative Bank at 3.25 percent, the lowest rate since 2021. A tenant, Travis Fakers, told the board he and eight others were displaced 15 days after a July 22 fire, saying required 48-hour inspection orders were never issued. Written questions on the police station report are due by Wednesday, August 12.
