Warren moves to adopt right-to-farm bylaw

Select Board · Meeting of September 3, 2026

Warren advances right-to-farm and cemetery burial bylaws without a final vote. Board of Health representative Dan Thibodeau presented a right-to-farm draft modeled on the state's bylaw, noting Warren is currently the only area town without one, while Cemetery Commission clerk Cynthia Baxter said the commission "declined to receive bodies prepared for green burials" at Pine Grove and South Warren cemeteries, citing fewer than 90 unsold graves and runoff concerns. The Select Board unanimously approved $153,042.48 in payroll, $266,389.95 and $61,057.01 in accounts payable, and a second change order for the Main Street stair project funded through CDBG money.

Fire Chief Adam Lavoie reported 72 ambulance calls and 54 fire calls in July. The board also previewed a September 9 community forum on a proposed new police station, debating whether Town Moderator Dario should moderate audience questions.
