Warren closes warrant for June 11 town meeting

Select Board · Meeting of May 21, 2026

Warren Select Board signs a 25-article warrant with a $4.82 million school bill reshaped by a sister district's closure. The board voted unanimously to close the warrant for the June 11 annual town meeting, finalizing Warren's $460,473 above-minimum school assessment and $966,589 transportation cost after West Brookfield Elementary School's closure, and leaving the figure inside the omnibus budget on trust rather than splitting it into its own article. Members approved a two-step raise for custodian Michael Corenzo, to $20.42 an hour, and a $45,000 CDBG-funded engineering contract for the Hillside Avenue project.

The town administrator reported sewer rates will rise about 15 percent, to $770 a year, adding roughly $162,000 in revenue, and that $10,000 is moving into a revolving fund to pursue foreclosure on roughly ten delinquent tax title properties. "I think leaving it in the omnibus...is the right message to send," one board member said.
